General Information

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines:

The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Toronto renders in-person consular services amid COVID-19 pandemic. Except few specific services (which need personal appearance), applicants can apply online followed by both way postal deliveries (with trackable return envelope). However, applicants are requested to follow the health guidelines/orders/measures promulgated by the provincial and federal government.

Applicants are humbly requested to follow below guidelines during their in-person appointment at the Consulate General:

i) For in-person interview/consular consultations/submission/collection, please be present at the Consulate General according to your appointment slot as scheduled online.
ii) Visitors must wear face mask, please note that Consulate follows ‘NO MASK NO ENTRY’ policy.
iii) After entering to the consular waiting room visitors must sanitize their hands and
iv) Once inside, visitors must respect social distances i.e., sit in designated chairs, stand only on designated red-marked spots, and maintain 6 feet distance with each other.

The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Toronto renders the following Consular Services to the Bangladesh diaspora and Canadian citizens living in Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba.



Online Application process: 

On the 100th Birth Anniversary (17 March 2020) of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman- Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto proudly opens digitised consular services EXCEPT Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) for the Bangladesh diaspora and Canadians living in Canada. Please carefully upload all required documents. Applicant does not need to send or submit hard copies of the documents except signed confirmation page, passport or original copy(s) or photocopy(s) to be stamped/attested/endorsed and payment document (bank draft/money order/certified cheque).

Irrespective of age, each applicant must submit separate application for each consular service; for minors’ parents/guardians should apply on their behalf.

Applicant must submit documents either in-person or by post to the Consulate General within the 90 days of online application. Failure to submit/send document(s) within 90 days will result in automatic expiration/deletion of BDCG Online Application from the Digitised Consular Service System (DCSS). There will be no refund of fees for such expiration/deletion. [ Online application deadline of 90 days takes effect from 8 June 2021.]


Special note:  Online application for Machine Readable Passport (MRP), Machine Readable Visa/No-Visa (MRV) and Birth Registration Certificate (BDRIS) remain valid for 14 days only. Therefore, applicants are strongly recommended to submit document either in-person or by post to the Consulate General within 90 days of their Online Application. Otherwise, applicants have to re-apply online (at the respective online application portals) and send the digital copy of the ‘Application Form’ to the Consulate General again.


Police Clearance Certificate: 

Apply directly to www.police.gov.bd for obtaining ‘Police Clearance Certificate’ from Bangladesh. Applicants may attest copy of the passport from the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Toronto to upload with their online application package. Applicant may attest ‘Authorisation Letter’ for collecting ‘Police Clearance Certificate’ on his/her behalf in Bangladesh. This service falls under ‘Attestation’ at the BDCG online application process.


General Office Hours:

Consulate General of Bangladesh in Toronto remains open from Monday to Friday from 0900-1700 hrs and closed on Saturday and Sunday and government holidays.


Consular Hours:

Consular Services rendered on Monday to Friday from 1000 to 1300 hrs and 1400 to 1600 hrs. and closed on Saturday and Sunday and government holidays.

 

Processing time:

All consular services EXCEPT Machine Readable Passport (MRP) and Power of Attorney (POA):

  • Regular service: 3 working days + postal delivery
  • Express service: 1 working day + postal delivery

Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) delivery: (completely depends on DIP, Dhaka)

  • Regular service: 6 to 8 weeks + postal delivery
  • Express service: 3 to 4 weeks + postal delivery

[Your enrollment ID will be available once your application is enrolled in the DIP system. If you applied through Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto, your enrollment ID will begin with CAN20000000XXXXX ]

Power of Attorney (POA): 

  • Regular service: 5 working days + postal delivery
  • Express service: 3 working days + postal delivery


Document Submission: 

By post: 

Send a self-addressed trackable/registered/express return envelope with the documents. Self-addressed return envelope must contain enough postage for uninterrupted delivery. Applications by post should be addressed to Consular Section, Bangladesh Consulate General, 2235 Sheppard Ave. East (Atria II), Suite # 1505, Toronto, ON M2J 5B5, Canada. Applications sent by post must reach to the Consulate General directly, no application will be collected from the post office or courier service. Applications received without trackable return envelope will not be processed.


In-Person: 

Please be present at the Consulate General according to your appointment slot as scheduled online.


Consular Fees:

Applicants may pay online- a transaction receipt will be e-mailed to cardholder’s email OR through Bank Draft/Postal Order/Certified Cheque addressed to the “Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto”. Applicant may pay through Debit/Credit card at the service counter of the Consulate. Bangladesh Consulate General does not accept any cash transaction. Consular fees once received cannot be refunded at any stage of processing.

Appointment:

For in-person interview/consular consultations/submission/collection, please be present at the Consulate according to your appointment slot as scheduled online. Appointment can be rescheduled/managed by login to Your Application selecting ‘Manage Appointment’.


Specification of the photograph:

i) Photograph should be 45mmX35mm.
ii) Must be in white background.
iii) Should show the full front view of the face in the middle.
iv) Should include shoulder top.
v) No background shadow.
vi) Not older than 6 months.
vii) For digital upload maximum file size is 6Mb (.jpg)
