Curriculum Vitae of Mr. Md. Lutfor Rahman

Consul General of Bangladesh, Toronto, Canada

Mr. Md. Lutfor Rahman was born in Thakurgaon, Bangladesh on 16 October 1970. He graduated from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka in 1995. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh in February 1998. He served in the Headquarters for two (2) years as Assistant Secretary in different sections. He was posted to Bangladesh Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2000 and continued to serve till September 2004. He then served as First Secretary for two (2) years in Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi, Pakistan. Mr. Rahman returned to the Headquarters and assumed the charge as Director in February 2007. After serving for two (2) years in Dhaka, Mr. Rahman joined Bangladesh Mission in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as Counsellor. After a rather short stint, he was posted to Bangladesh Embassy in Rabat, Morocco as Counsellor in 2010. Upon completion of his tenure of four (4) years, he came back to Headquarters in September 2014 and was promoted to the rank of Director-General. He led the Consular and Welfare Wing and the External Publicity Wing, respectively. Mr. Rahman has assumed charge as Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Mumbai in September 2017. After completion of his tour of Duty as Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Mumbai he assumed charges as Consul General of Bangladesh in Toronto on 11 January 2022.


Mr. Rahman had participated in several training courses at home and abroad. He also obtained an MBA in 2009.


His hobbies are reading books, watching Sports and Movies. He was primarily interested in literature, mythology, and Development Economics.


Mr. Rahman is married and blessed with two children.
