Re-issue Machine-Readable Passport


Bangladesh citizen living in Canada may apply for Machine Readable Passport (MRP) Re-issue at the Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto. MRP will be re-issued in cases of Expiration/Information Alteration/Correction of the current MRP or if the current MRP is unusable.

Applicants who have old hand-written passport but did not get any Machine Readable Passport (MRP) or do not have Bangladesh Passport yet should apply for a 'New Machine Readable Passport'.

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines:

The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Toronto renders in-person consular services amid COVID-19 pandemic. Except few specific services (which need personal appearance), applicants can apply online followed by both way postal deliveries (with trackable return envelope). However, applicants are requested to follow the health guidelines/orders/measures promulgated by the provincial and federal government.

Applicants are humbly requested to follow below guidelines during their in-person appointment at the Consulate General:

i) For in-person interview/consular consultations/submission/collection, please be present at the Consulate General according to your appointment slot as scheduled online.
ii) Visitors must wear face mask.
iii) After entering to the consular waiting room visitors must sanitize their hands and
iv) Once inside, visitors must respect social distances i.e., sit in designated chairs, stand only on designated red-marked spots, and maintain 6 feet distance with each other.

Required Documents for MRP Re-issue/Information Alteration/Correction

i) BDCG Online Application confirmation page. [Send/submit to the Consulate General]
ii) Old/existing Machine-Readable Passport (MRP). [Send/submit to the Consulate General, old MRP will be returned to the applicant]
iii) Photocopy of the bio-page of old/existing MRP. [Upload @ BDCG online application]
iv) Supporting documents (PR card/marriage certificate/divorce certificate/study permit/affidavit/name change document, etc.) in favour of requested changes; Government Order (GO) should be submitted for Official Passport re-issue. [Upload @ BDCG online application]
v) Retired Government employees may submit photocopy of the ‘Pension Book’ for availing 'Express Service' paying regular fee. [Upload @ BDCG online application]
vi) For changes in the permanent address, applicant must submit a proof that he/she is living in the address for last 3 years. [Upload @ BDCG online application]
vii) For Name or/and Date of Birth change, attested copies of the Educational Certificate, NID and 17-digit Birth Registration Certificate. [Upload @ BDCG online application]
viii) 'Emergency Contact' i.e. person and address must be from Bangladesh.
ix) For change of Marital Status i.e. unmarried to married or married to divorced, please provide a copy of supporting document(s) of Marriage or Divorce. [Upload @ BDCG online]
x) 45mmX35mm photograph (not older than 6 months) with white background. If the applicant is under 15 years of age, a copy of father and/or mother's photograph.[Upload @ BDCG online application]
xi) If the old/existing MRP was taken before the age of 15, applicant should come to the Consulate for biometrics and photograph.
xii) Copy of the Canadian photo ID (Passport/PR card/Study Permit/Work Permit). [Upload @ BDCG online application]
xiii) Applicant may add any information/comments/documents in support of his/her application as an additional document. [Upload @ BDCG online application]
xiv) Applicants should send/submit Bank Draft/Money Order/Certified cheque to the Consulate OR pay online OR pay in person by Debit/Credit card at the Service Counter of the Consulate.

Special note:   In-person presence at the Consulate General is mandatory for updating signature and photograph.


Step 1: BDCG Online Application

A confirmation page will be generated and a copy of that will be sent to the applicant’s e-mail, please print and sign the confirmation page.

Applicant must submit documents either in-person or by post to the Consulate General within the 90 days of online application. Failure to submit/send document(s) within 90 days will result in automatic expiration/deletion of BDCG Online Application from the Digitised Consular Service System (DCSS). There will be no refund of fee for such expiration/deletion. 


Step 2: Document Submission

Applicant should send or submit i) signed confirmation page ii) old/existing MRP and iii) online payment or Bank draft/Money order/Certified cheque or pay by Debit/Credit card at the service counter of the Consulate. iv) copy of Study Permit / Work Permit (If applicable). v) copy of Marriage / Divorce Certificate (If applicable). vi) copy of 17-digit Birth Certificate/ NID (If applicable).

By Post: Please send a self-address trackable return envelope with the documents to Consular Section, Bangladesh Consulate General, 2235 Sheppard Ave. East (Atria II), Suite # 1505, Toronto, ON M2J 5B5, Canada. Applications sent by post must reach to the Consulate directly, no application will be collected from post office or courier service. Application received without trackable return envelope will not be processed.

In-Person: Applicant should be present at the Consulate as per the appointment scheduled online. Booked appointment can be rescheduled/managed by login to Your Application.


Step 3: Paying Fees

Government fee for ‘MRP Re-issue/Information Alteration/Correction ’ is C$ 150.00 (Regular – processing time will be 02 months as per DIP) and C$ 300.00 (Express - processing time will be 01 month as per DIP). For Bangladesh students studying in foreign country ‘MRP Re-issue/Information Alteration/Correction fee is C$ 45.00 (Regular – processing time will be 02 months as per DIP) and C$ 150.00 (Express - processing time will be 01 month as per DIP), please see Consular Fees.  Applicant may pay online- a transaction receipt will be e-mailed to cardholder’s email OR Bank Draft/Postal Order addressed to “Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto”. OR applicant may pay through Debit/Credit card at the service counter of the Consulate.

[Consulate General of Bangladesh does not accept any cash payment]

Step 4: Processing

Consular Agent will examine the MRP Re-issue/Information Alteration/Correction application and process. Please note that the MRP is re-issued from the Department of Immigration and Passport (DIP), Dhaka, Bangladesh. As soon as Consulate receives the re-issued MRP from Dhaka, it will be mailed to the applicant (through return envelop) OR applicant will be notified for in-person collection.

Step 5: Disposal

By post: Re issued MRP will be sent to the return address.

In-person: Applicant will be notified for in-person collection.


Special note:
  • Incomplete Application will not be processed.
  • Bangladesh Consulate General reserves the right to request for any additional document at any stage of the application process.
  • Bangladesh Consulate General reserves the right to withhold any application for further examination.
  • Bangladesh Consulate General reserves the right to reject/cancel any application at any stage of the processing.
  • If requires, Bangladesh Consulate General may request applicant for in-person interview.
  • Consular fee paid to the Consulate General is non-refundable.
